Assessment Pathways

Throughout the course of the year, you'll be assigning practice FRQs (released questions from previous AP exams) to your class for formative assessment. NMSI has compiled all assessment material for you including the questions (prompts), the scoring guides (rubrics), and student samples with commentary (exemplars).

  • You have the opportunity to assign up to 21 FRQs throughout the year. FRQs have been grouped into 7 distinct focus areas with three different FRQs per skill/unit.
  • You can choose the order of assessments or follow NMSI's recommended sequence.
  • Whatever order you choose, you must do at least two FRQs (ideally all three) in each of the following windows:

Data and Reporting

For every assignment, you'll be partnering with highly qualified readers who will score and deliver in-depth feedback for you and your students. We call these folks "Graiders". Graiders are graduate and undergraduate students from colleges across the country. Many are aspiring teachers enrolled in formal education programs, but we also recruit content specialists (including English, math, and science majors).

Graiders go through a rigorous application process and extensive training to ensure they can deliver reliable scoring and effective feedback to you and your students. You can read more about our feedback framework here.

For every assignment, you'll recieve extensive data and reporting including:

  1. Class Summary Report
  2. Individual Student Report
  3. CSV file for all data

Together this school year, we'll be exploring how to read, analyze, and use each of these reports to drive instruction and decision-making in your classroom.

You can explore a sample Class Summary and Student Reports for each AP course here.
